King Caspian X
"Once a King or Queen of Narnia. Always a King or Queen of Narnia".
Character's Name: King Caspian X
Nicknames: none
Age: 18
Birthday: 20 August
Race: Human
Alliance For Aslan!
Birthplace: Narnia (under the Telmarines)
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 154 lbs
Appearance: Caspian is quite handsome by Telmarine standards, if not a bit unusual. His hair is very dark brown, lighter than most, and longer than that of many other Telmarine men (shoulder length). His eyes are deep chocolate, and have captured the heart of many a maiden. He has high cheekbones and a defined nose. Most of his features are very sharp, indicating his ability to be a leader according to the old appearance indication superstitions of Telmarines. He has relatively thin lips and straight white teeth.
He is relatively tall and lean for one of royal blood (unlike his somewhat stockier uncle). However, he is slightly less muscular as well, even though he still has some muscle. His limbs are pretty long and it took him a while to grow into them after a frustratingly long and awkward period. Also, he has rather large hands and feet, despite the dainty size of his mother. He is a strange cross between his mother and his father, one of whom was very small and the other of whom was shaped more like Miraz. Though he is lean, he is tall and sometimes gangly. Miraz has taken great pains to make him more graceful and royal. (Caspian is guessing it was for his own glory somehow - just to have a nice-looking heir, most likely.) Now he carries himself well and has become a handsome young man.
Any markings, scars? There are, of course, a few battle scars that Caspian has received. Some of them were the cause of an “accident” when he was only training to become a great swordsman, and thankfully he has since learned his lesson about Telmarine lords. There is still a small scar above his eye he gained in the Second Battle of Beruna, and of course, his shoulder will never be the same after being shot with Prunaprisimia’s cross-bow. It still pains him at times.
"I am the Tallest in my class"
Likes:
-fencing (there is something rewarding about being able to pin an opponent with a thin sword.)
-horse back riding (Destrier has gotten him through some tough times. You know, growing up, escaping homicidal uncles, that sort of thing.)
-rescuing fair maidens (that, too, he has found to be quite rewarding. At least, he has on the one or two occasions he has actually done it.)
-sailing (or he thinks he would if he actually got the chance to.)
-dancing (especially with a certain maiden.)
-being told stories (his favorites are the ones that turn out to be true. But that’s only happened once. It’s still his favorite, anyway.)
-music (what good noble doesn’t have an ear for music?)
-animals (though he never expected them to actually talk to him.)
-swimming (for some reason, all Telmarines are intrinsically afraid of water. And who could blame ‘em? Of course, this makes Caspian love it all the more.)
-Susan. (as if you didn’t know.)
Dislikes:
-archery (Susan has tried to teach him it, to no avail. And he has had some bad experiences with crossbows.)
-lords (they have done some pretty bad things, in general)
-being hated because of his family (c’mon. Does everyone really have to blame him for all the things his uncle has done? It’s not as if he actually even liked the fellow.)
-his family, in general (all of his loved ones are dead. That doesn’t mean that just because Miraz is dead that he is loved, mind you.)
-sleeping (it’s such a waste of time, he thinks.)
-wine (he has a feeling it influenced some of the more drastic decisions his uncle has made.)
-being told he can’t do something (he’s a king, after all!)
-public speaking (it’s too bad, really, since it’s sort of a job requirement)
-being hungry (just because he’s gotten used to it during the time at the How, doesn’t make him like it anymore.)
-defeat (he’s used to that too, and hates it even more.)
Weaknesses/Flaws:
-archery, though he’s getting better at it (he’s quite good with a cross-bow)
-speaking in public (Peter is infinitely better, and always will be, he supposes)
-facing his mistakes (simply because he knows he can’t fix them)
-doing things by himself (he’s always afraid of mucking up)
-a constant need for approval (…see above)
-has a hard time getting close to people he doesn’t know well (after being betrayed by everyone he once knew, can you really blame him?)
-childishness, impatience, lack of confidence
-impulsive/passionate
-Susan… (Enough said.)
-missing Susan.
Strengths:
-close combat. He’s been well-trained and takes pride in his abilities.
-horse-back riding; he’s excellent.
-sailing/swimming – though he doesn’t get to do it often enough.
-staying tough – all Telmarines are supposed to be, but being a prince has denied him this privilege. However, being a Narnian has taught him otherwise.
-loyalty; he never gives up on those he loves.
-passionate (this can also be a strength)
-determined
-open-minded (usually… this can also be a weakness)
-virtuous
Personality: Caspian is, more than anything else, still rather confused about who he is and what he is doing. He thought that after two years of being Narnia's king, he might know these things a bit better. But unfortunately, that has not yet happened. Like the kings and queens with whom he shares the rule of Narnia, he grew up quite a bit faster than he was expected to - that is, by the time he was a teenager, he had already gone through enough experiences to make him a mature young man. Leaving home and everything one knows, starting a war, and leading a whole kingdom by the time one is only a young adult, after all, can be such an experience. (Just ask any of the Pevensies.) However, some of his development has impaired other areas - such as finding his way in the world, and his opinion of himself. He remains quite conflicted in this manner.
For example, he is forever unsure of his opinions. He may go back and forth on a decision and take a long while to make it. For this reason, he has many advisers. In fact, he is quite dependent on others, and has been since he was a young boy. This was not just because this was his way, but because he was a royal, and he was always spoiled terribly by everyone in the castle. So of course, as a child, he was quite selfish and proud. Ever since he left home as a prince - when everything changed - he has lost some of these qualities in favor of a more humble attitude, especially when he was brought before the kings and queens of old. Though he retained much of his dependence on others, he has replaced what was once proud confidence with a great deal of being unsure. After what happened with the unsuccessful raid, he has always second-guessed himself. In many ways, he is still quite childish.
One way he is childish is that he is passionate about nearly everything. That, of course, includes his inability to make a decision, because his emotions often overrun him. He becomes frustrated, depressed, or joyful quite easily, and grows excited about all things. He is afraid of many circumstances, including public speaking, and he is easily influenced by others. Sometimes that will get him in danger, as it has before. Though often he does his best to conceal his emotions, he is generally rather bad at it, unfortunately. He has a tendency to take out his frustrations on others and has trouble saying what he means to because so many thoughts enter his head at once. This may hurt other people, though he does his utmost not to. He tries too hard to make people like him, because he cares so much about them.
The reason Caspian is so excitable isn't simply because of how he was raised. He simply has so many feelings within him, most of them happy and loving, that he has trouble getting them all out at once. He struggles to control his emotions and ends up wounded for it most of the time. Sometimes he hurts others for it as well. But he is not trying to do so, he is only trying to express his many conflicting feelings without success. He is not a bad man. He is, in fact, an extremely good man - Aslan would not have chosen him to be the next king of Narnia if he weren't - but he has just encountered bad circumstances and made a few bad decisions (or had others make bad decisions for him, that is).
Some of his strengths include his loyalty. Once he does make a decision, he stands by it and will stand by it with his life. This also applies to people. Just when he met the Pevensies, he would have pledged his life to them. (Susan in particular.) And he continued to follow them in everything they did, even when it might not have been the wisest thing to do. He is also very clever, and is able to understand things quickly. If he did not have this ability, he would not have been able to survive his run through the forest after learning King Miraz was going to attempt to kill him. This helps him understand the intentions of many of the lords he now has to deal with. He's quite a quick learner, and has been intelligent his whole life. Also, Caspian, when he is able to express his feelings, can be quite eloquent, even persuasive (when he does have an opinion on something). He can be quite loving and wonderful when he is capable.

History From his first memory, Caspian recalls hearing stories about Old Narnia. He has been fascinated with it ever since. Of course, he never expected that he would actually see its creatures (Fauns, and Centaurs, and Minotaurs, and Dwarfs...) - but that comes later. His nurse was the first to tell him about the Narnia of the past, in lush tales of kings and queens. In between the more boring lessons he had to endure, he heard the storiess and relished them. He grew up immersed in the past. But he soon found out that his uncle did not like this, for his nurse had been "sent away" for telling him those stories, and Caspian received a new tutor.
Caspian was wary at first of Cornelius, but came to like him. Meanwhile his distrust of his uncle and aunt grew as he learned more of old Narnia, this time from the professor. He found out that Cornelius knew of Narnia too, and taught him in secret everything about Narnia's history. For a while, Caspian was happy. Of course, he went on learning and doing bothersome things such as that, but he dreamed of a day where he could go back to Old Narnia somehow, away from the Telmarines he himself was beginning to dislike (because of his uncle) even though he was one.
But this brief time did not last. Caspian's aunt began to be seen less around the castle and many people were fussing over her. One night Cornelius told him that there was a new heir to the throne - Prunaprisimia's new son - and Caspian, since he had no further use to Miraz and served only as a blockade to the throne, had to flee. Given only some food and a strange package, he did so, unsure of what he was going to do next. Eventually he found out that the thing Cornelius had given him was the horn of Queen Susan. He blew it just before falling unconscious after being dragged around by his feet from the stirrups of his horse through the forest he had been taught his whole life to fear.
It turned out that the wood was right to be feared. It was filled with strange and wonderful creatures that Caspian hadn't even known existed. He met Trufflehunter, a Badger, and Nikabrik, a Dwarf, as well as Reepicheep the Mouse and Glenstorm the Centaur and many others. Soon he had gained the loyalty of many of the Old Narnians, and they began to plot against the Telmarines. They one day discovered the Kings and Queens of Old in the forest on their way to Aslan's How and returned there together to plan some more. They decided - or rather High King Peter decided for the rest of them - that they would raid Miraz's castle.
On this night, Caspian deviated from the plan that Peter had set out in order to rescue Cornelius, who had been jailed for his efforts in helping Caspian escape, he presumed. He rescued the Professor, only to learn that Miraz had murdered his father. Infuriated, he went up to Miraz's room and was rewarded with a crossbow shot through the shoulder from a frightened Pruniprisimia. Though he, Peter, and Susan escaped successfully, others were not so lucky - Miraz's troops were called in and the Narnians were grossly outnumbered. In the desperate retreat, many of the finest Narnians were left behind when the entrance gate was closed and trapped them inside. After the failed raid, blame was passed around from party to party until something awful happened - Nikabrik suggested bringing the White Witch back. Jadis tempted both Peter and Caspian, but thanks to Edmund, they escaped further troubles.
In an effort to fix things, Peter offered to duel Miraz himself. The challenge was accepted by the Telmarine usurper. During the time that the duel went on, Caspian went out after Susan and Lucy, who had been sent off in hopes of finding Aslan. Caspian rescued Susan from a group of Telmarine archers and returned with her to the How without Lucy. The duel went on as planned until Peter managed to disarm Miraz, allowing Caspian, as the victim of Miraz's cruelty, to give the fatal blow. But Caspian did not. Instead, it was one of Miraz's own men who killed their king, and the battle began. Caspian was nearly killed multiple times but somehow managed to evade death. The trees, which had been asleep for a century, suddenly awakened to give them aid just when the battle seemed to had taken a turn for the worse. The Telmarines retreated to a river, where they saw Aslan and were swallowed up by a river god that the Lion had called forth.
After that, Caspian was coronated as Narnia's newest king. Things appeared to be going well, but as usual, things were not always as they seemed. As his relationship grew with Susan, his patched up friendship with Peter seemed to falter. It was kept a secret but it was not difficult to see that the five rulers, who were meant to stand as a united front, were not getting along. Aslan had left them to their own devices, and Caspian began to wonder what consequences this would have.
